CARE AND MAINTENANCE

  • 1. Do not use this service for 12 (Standard reglazing) and for 48 (Liquid Acrylic) hours after refinishing at room temperature. When removing the masking paper, peel it off slowly in upward and outward direction. Use particular care around a drain piece. Bathtub can be put back into full use but even after that time the surface may continue to harden for up to 2 weeks. Because of that do not use any products with coloring effects.
  •
  • 2. Do not lay soap, bottles or any object on the finish circuit, put them on the shoe rack.
  •
  • 3. Be sure that your faucets are dry every evening, rain shower pipes, and then close tightly.  If you have a leak, take care immediately. Make sure there’s no standing water in the tub after the rest of the water has drained. The tub should be completely dry a couple of hours after each use.
  •
  • 4.Clean finish regularly during the curing period with soap and sponge this is called surface conditioning) to remove any dust that might have settled. In older tubs, you may encounter gauges or Surface imperfections known as pinholes. Although little can be done for those, it will cause no harm to the tub.
  •
  • 5. Do not use an abrasive cleaner such us Comet or Ajax, steel wool, wire brushes, harsh abrasives, any cleaning products with bleach, ammonia or cleaners containing ammonia, or scratch pads. which will scratch the surface and would cause a dull surface. Only clean after each use with scrubbing bubbles made by Dow, Lysol tub and tile cleaner and soft scrub without bleach blue label.  It is extremely important to clean the surface after each use, as this will prevent soap scum buildup.
  •
  • 6. Do not drop sharp or heavy objects on the finish, which may cause it to chip. Contact your refinisher immediately for repairs if this should occur within 1 to 2 weeks of the accident. It is the responsibility of the customer to properly notify the refinisher within 1 to 2 weeks of occurrence.
  •
  • 7. All leaky faucet must be prepared to protect the finish against the eroding action of dripping water, which may cause the finish to crack and wear out prematurely
  •
  • 8. Destruction of the surface may occur if you were in proper use of acid bearing compounds (drain opener, tile grout cleaners).
  •
  • 9. All chemicals (cosmetics, bleach, hair dye, perfumes…) must be kept away from the finish for it may stain or mar the finish.
  •
  • 10. Do not use a rubber mat, especially with suction cups. Most mats will produce a reaction with the finish when subjected to hot water. Contact your refinisher for an  ANTI-SLIP BOTTOM APPLICATION
  •
  • 11. Caulk line between tub and tile must be properly sealed at all times. It is the responsibility of the customer to re-caulk the tub unless previously agreed upon and written down on the work order prior to starting the job.  All the caulk must be applied before first use of the bathtub (photo of caulking must be submitted to our email within 3 days in order to insure our work from improper maintenance). In certain cases, cork around the drain area must be properly sealed at all times.
  •
  • 12. All of the construction works around the bathtub must be shut during reglazing and within period of drying, since excessive amounts of airborne particles would damage the gloss of the newly painted surface.  Make sure that any maintenance or handyman does not drain any chemical or compounds into the bathtub.
  •
  • 13. Drain Cleaners: Liquid drain cleaners are recommended over powders and/or crystal. Be sure to use the drain cleaner very carefully so as not to damage the paint. It is a very harsh chemical. However, when using liquid drain cleaning agents bail the standing water out of the bathtub completely and remove the tub drain plug if present. Using a sponge gets as much water out of the tub’s drain as possible. If you’re up to it a small diameter, clear vinyl tubing can be inserted into the drain and you can suck some of the water out. Avoid getting it in your mouth ;-)Use a funnel to prevent spills and apply the chemicals directly down the drain, slowly, allowing them to work. Always make sure that chemicals do not come in contact with the new surface .If  it does wipe up immediately. Use drain cleaners sparingly so that they do not boil out and attack the new surface. Allow time for the chemicals to work. Snaking out thru the overflow is the better option to remove hair buildup.
  •
  • 14. Standing water: if the refinished surface of the shower pan/bathtub/sink is slanted or dished and causes water to pool away from the drain area, it is important to remove that water, (e.g., with a squeegee) and assure the surface dries after every use to prevent deterioration of the finish and eventual peeling. The tub should be completely dry a couple of hours after each use.
  •
  • 15. Rust: Corrosion on any surfaces which have rust developing at the overflow drain hole(s), and which has stained or lifted the porcelain at or around the hole(s) can be repaired and refinished, but we does not offer any warranty, express or implied, on such a refinish. Every effort is made to remove all rust and apply the finish in a manner which will give long service, but under such circumstances, the rust may return. We are  not responsible for repairing any of the returning rust nor further removal of any rust.
  •
  • 16. Got a Dog? Washing your dog in a refinished tub, it’s a good idea to put down a towel on the tub’s bottom.  So they will feel secure and safe. We don’t want them to dig into the refinished tubs surface. Also place a towel over the tubs rail so when they climb out they won’t dig into the tubs rail with their toe nails when getting out.
  •
  • 17. If you need to place a baby tub, or bucket, or any similar object in your refinished bathtub, be sure to put a towel down underneath so the bottom rim does not damage the tub.
